March 7,  Return to Paradise (1953)  In a beautiful lush Tahiti type setting, Morgan (Gary Cooper) washes upon this Pacific Island.  He is a drifter and soldier of fortune, whofinds himself at odds with the dictatorship of Pastor Corbett, a missionary with puritanical rules.  The cleric endeavors to subdue the native culture of the natives, whereas Morgan comes to defend them.  The song "Return to Paradise" is now considered a classic, and we hear it in the background of this film's vibrant setting that will warm our winter soul.

March 14,  Lost Horizon (1937) Directed by Frank Capra and staring Ronald Colman, this film is based on the acclaimed James Hilton 1933 novel.  Coleman is a diplomat who has one last task to rescue 90 people in China before he returns to England.   His aircraft is hijacked to the land of Shangri-La, a place ruled by the mysterious High Lama and where people never grow old.  The film was selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2016.

March 21,  Island in the Sun (1957) An ensemble cast of James Mason, Joan Fontaine, Joan Collins, Stephen Boyd, and Dorothy Dandridge find themselves embroiled in this controversial film. Based on the novel by Alex Waugh, conflicts of race relations, interracial romance, politics and murder interact on an island in the Caribbean.  Barbados and Grenada are the locales filmed for the fictitious Santa Marta.  Harry Belafonte makes his film debut along with his singing the theme song.
